Feel free to ask any questions that you may have or see below for some ideas that are currently important areas to advocate for our school. New Curriculum MCPS is purchasing a new curriculum for its elementary schools. We can’t anticipate how this will impact or align with our IB philosophy of conceptual and transdisciplinary learning. While we at CGES look forward to working with MCPS and their commitment to allow CGES the flexibility to create a timeline and scope and sequence that meets the PYP framework, if you as parents have specific questions about the new curriculum and how it will impact IB schools and College Gardens in particular, please ask. There are some sample questions below:•I understand that MCPS is purchasing a new curriculum for its elementary schools. How does the board plan to continue to allow CGES the flexibility to create a timeline and scope and sequence that meets the PYP framework in the IB program?•Are there plans to open more elementary IB Schools? It would be beneficial for CGES to have another school to collaborate with. We believe the PYP program does great things for kids.•How are special programs such as the IB PYP, immersion, and highly gifted centers thought about in reviewing a curriculum being purchased? What is being considered when purchasing the new curriculum and how will it be integrated into the IB PYP framework? Language Teacher at CGESThe IB PYP believes strongly in students speaking more than one language. College Gardens currently meets additional language requirements through a visiting teacher from China program which will end in 2019. We know MCPS is increasing language options and it will be in elementary schools. •What is the plan to assign a certified language teacher to College Gardens?
