  • All acts must be elementary-aged appropriate as accepted by the school principal and/ or variety show committee. Foul language, sexual content or drug related content will not be allowed. Kidzbop.com has popular songs with school-appropriate lyrics.
  • A separate application/ permission form must be turned in for EACH participant.
  • No student will be allowed to try out without a completed permission form (see attached).
  • Music and lyrics for any of the songs to be performed will be reviewed by the variety show committee for acceptable lyrical content. You MUST include a copy of the song lyrics with your application. The application will not be considered without the lyrics attached.

Pants need to be above the hipbone, not exposing underwear. The crotch should hang no more than half way between the crotch and knees and able to remain around the waist without having to hold them in place.. Shorts, skirts and dresses need to be at least fingertip length.       Footwear needs to keep the foot safe and secure. Shoe laces should be tied tightly enough that when walking or kicking a ball, the show remains on the foot. Lightweight sandals or flip flops are not appropriate.

  • Music and lyrics for any of the songs to be performed will be reviewed by the variety show committee for acceptable lyrical content. You MUST include a copy of the song lyrics with your application. The application will not be considered without the lyrics attached.
  • After you turn in your permission form, you will be assigned a try out date and time on either April 3rd or 5th between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Parents please check your email for the information regarding your student’s assigned date and time. In addition to the email notification, thee will be notices provided to the teachers, and a schedule will be posted in the window near the office. Try outs MUST occur at the schedule times. Late arrivals will be worked in ONLY if time allows, so PLEASE BE PROMPT.
  • Try outs will be CLOSED, this means only parent(s), judges and a variety show committee may be present during the audition.
  • Only students who are participating in the tryouts, rehearsals will be allowed to stay after school. NO SIBLINGS MAY STAY!
  • All students who are participating should bring their homework, a book to read, or any other quiet activity to stay busy while other acts are performing.
  • All participants must be respectful of the variety show volunteers and their fellow participants!
  • A separate application/ permission form must be turned in for EACH participant.
  • Try Outs are Judged on the following guidelines:
  • Is the act appropriate for a school activity? This means that the act is age appropriate without gross or scary costumes, lyrics that use only clean language that does not include sexual innuendos, and dancing that is acceptable for an elementary school audience.  Any music, costume or dance moves are subject to change at the discretion of the principal and/ or talent show committee.
  • Is the act within the two minute time limit?
  • Is the act well prepared?  While acts do not need to be professional, they must be well rehearsed, memorized and with the appropriate costumes ready.
  • Is the act entertaining?  Is it enjoyable to watch and easy to see and hear?
