What is Junior Achievement?
JA is a non-profit organization that provides a series of educational programs which teach students the basic concepts of business and economics, and how education is relevant to the workplace.
Who teaches the program? The JA curriculum grades K-4 is presented by parent or community business volunteers who can share their valuable insight to the students. The 5th grade participates in the JA BizTown program, which is facilitated by the teachers.
Who develops the content, and where do the materials come from? All program materials (for the volunteers and for the students) are developed and provided by JA. The volunteers do not to need to develop or prepare any materials; everything is provided in the kit that you receive during your volunteer training. The sessions will be taught by the volunteer(s), while the teacher remains in the classroom to supervise.
What is the time commitment?Volunteers will attend a 1-hour training session at PTE, at which time you will receive your kit of materials, and learn how to teach the JA program.
