The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that textile waste occupies nearly 5% of all landfill space. According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, Americans throw away at least 200 million pairs of shoes and sneakers in landfills each year, where they can take 30 to 40 years to decompose. Most of this footwear can be reused while 100% can be recycled. GotSneakers created a way to keep these shoes and sneakers out of landfills and extend their lifecycle while making a difference in the lives of others around the world.
