PTO Showcase – Custodial Staff (Viviana Munoz, center)
Viviana Munoz is the head custodian at Carrillo and has been a member of the SMUSD community for nearly ten years. Viviana came to us from SEMS three years ago and was inspired to apply for the Carrillo head custodian position since she had worked with Mr. Pope and “knew he was one of the best people to work with because of his amazing work ethic.” Viviana remarks that “The thing that I most enjoy about working at Carrillo is the feeling of a strong and united community. Carrillo is not a workplace for me, but a second home. I love how everyone is so nice and caring, how the kids are taught to care for others and parents are always willing to help. We all feel the appreciation for what we do.”
Maria and Candelario are the other custodians on the custodial team. Since the pandemic started, the staff’s responsibilitieshave increased. After finishing all the regular summer cleaning, the entire custodial crew has been focused on making sure everything is disinfected and ready for the return of our students and staff to campus. Viviana says, “Our PTO and the rest of the community has been so helpful and supportive, like always. The only thing we would like to ask from them is to continue being patient with us while we navigate through this.”
We have an incredibly dedicated custodial team at Carrillo. In recent years, PTO has allocated funds for custodial supplies to support the mission of keeping our school healthy and clean. Last year PTO invested in a new washer, dryer and dolly.
Please donate to Giving Month so that we may continue to support the custodial team as they navigate the ever-changing challenges of keeping Carrillo safe during the pandemic.
