Scholastic Book Fair / October 21st to 25th
The annual Scholastic Book Fair returns to the Eakin Library October 21st to 25th!
A wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books will be available for every reading level.
Reading for pleasure at school and at home has lasting benefits. Children can unlock the power of information and imagination.
Teachers also have book wish lists - check them out at the Book Fair or reach out to your child's teacher with questions.
All purchases benefit the Eakin library and help grow our book collection.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be open at the following times:
• Monday, October 21st: 7:45 AM to 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
• Tuesday, October 22nd: 7:45 AM to 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
• Wednesday, October 23rd: 7:45 AM to 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• Thursday, October 24th: 7:45 AM to 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
• Friday, October 25th: 7:45 AM to 11:30 AM
Students must be accompanied by an adult to shop before or after school (be sure to sign-in at the Main Office entrance when you enter the school). During the school day, students may shop on their own with teacher permission. All classes will visit the library together as well.
Note that the Book Fair is open on Thursday, October 24th for families to stop by before or after the Fun Run event.
Wednesday evening extended hours provide a great time to visit with family and friends. Enter through the Fairfax Avenue doors for evening hours.
Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card at the Book Fair. You also can create and add funds to a digital eWallet that your student can use to purchase books during the school day. If sending a check with a child , make it payable to "Eakin Elementary" and leave the amount blank, but do place a spending limit in the memo line. Remember that sales tax is charged on all purchases, so send enough to cover book prices plus tax.
Rather than sending money with students, you are welcome to visit the Book Fair with your student any day before or after school, on Tuesday before or after Fun Run, or on Wednesday during extended evening hours. Please note that, students must be with an adult to shop when school is not in session (before school, after school, or during evening hours).
Volunteers are needed to assist with Book Fair setup, sales shifts, and take-down. Sign-up to help where you can! Ms. Bulbulkaya, our Eakin librarian, appreciates your assistance and support.
As a special incentive, please note that all volunteers receive a discount on purchases at the Book Fair!
