Join for the Eakin International Potluck on January 31st at 6:00 PM - a chance to come celebrate the diversity of our globe and especially our Eakin community.

The potluck is the culmination of Global Week at Eakin.  During the week, students will participate in international games, wear international dress, and partake in a Passport journey through tables where they learn about other countries in the Eakin library.

The potluck is a chance to talk with other Eakin families over a meal & to share more about your heritage through food and culture.

Food

Please sign-up to bring an appetizer, main dish, side dish, or dessert for the potluck.  Bring a favorite food dish form your home country to share.  Even if your family have been in the U.S. for generations, bring your favorite family recipe since local dishes reflect your contribution to the rich diversity of Eakin.  Any potluck food may be homemade, store bought, or catered.

Please be sure to label any dishes with allergens and meat types when you bring them.

Cultural Performances & Entertainment

Please sign-up to share family entertainment at the International Potluck.  Think of ways to share your family's heritage and background: sing a song, share a folk tale, lead everyone in a dance, or whatever other creative ideas you may have.

Updated Eakin Dress Code / Denim jeans now allowed daily

Starting January 7th, for the second semester, the Eakin dress code has been revised for the rest of the year to allow jeans every day of the week. Previously denim was only allowed on Fridays. The updated dress code is always available on the PTO website under the "Links" tab and is also posted below.

Eakin Elementary Student Dress Code

Students have two options for shirts every day:

  1. Students may wear any short or long-sleeved solid-colored shirt with a collar
  2. Students may also wear Eakin logo shirts

Students must wear one of these shirt choices with solid-color blue, navy, black, gray, or khaki shorts, pants, skirts, jumpers, or dresses.  Solid color denim jeans in these colors are acceptable, provided they are in good condition, without holes, rips that show skin, or frayed edges.

A solid-colored blazer, sweater, vest, jacket, fleece, or sweatshirt (hooded sweatshirts are allowed, but the hood should not be worn in the building) may be worn over any solid-colored shirt with a collar or Eakin logo shirt.

Eakin logo shirts are always available for purchase on the PTO website online store. A physical inventory of these items will be available for purchase at major school events.  Prices from the physical inventory are lower than online since we receive bulk pricing.

Here are some specific guidelines that may be helpful:

  • Collared shirts include polo-style shirts, dress-style shirts with buttons, or turtle necks.
  • Any logos, emblems, or manufacturer trademarks on shirts must be minimal. This does not apply for Eakin logo shirts.
  • Students may wear solid-colored long-sleeve t-shirts under short-sleeve collared shirts or short-sleeve Eakin logo shirts.
  • Polo style dresses are allowed in any solid color.
  • Leggings may be worn under dresses, skirts, jumpers, and shorts.
  • Skirts, shorts, dresses, and jumpers must extend below fingertip length
  • Belts and tucking-in of shirts is not required (unless the shirt is long, in which case it should be tucked).
  • Outdoor wear (such as raincoats and cold-weather jackets) must be removed upon entering the building. Umbrellas should be folded down upon entering the building.
  • All clothing must fit appropriately. Baggy or sagging shirts or pants are not allowed.
  • Students’ dress and grooming must be clean and neat. Clothes and appearance must be safe and not disruptive to the educational process.
  • All clothing should be free of holes, tears, and frayed edges
