PTO Meeting - November 13


Please join us for our monthly PTO meeting to hear from our school leadership and our PTO leadership on important school issues. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Civics Essay Contest - Nov. 13 Deadline


Eakin students are invited to enter our school-wide Civics Essay Contest! 
 

The deadline for submission has been extended to Tuesday, November 13th at 12 noon. 

Essay Details

Students in grades K-4 are invited to enter the essay contest, which has the theme of leadership.  Entering the contest is entirely optional and should be completed outside of school hours.


Grades K-2 should answer 'What does it mean to be a great leader?' in 100 words or less and draw a picture (no larger than 11" x 17") to illustrate the answer.

Grades 3-4 should choose a person from Tennessee history and describe what makes him or her a great leader in 350 words or less. 

Submission of Essays

Essays may be submitted by email to EakinPTO@gmail.com or printed copies may be sent to school in your child's communication folder with a note saying "Eakin Civics Essay Contest. Attn: Ms. Bulbulkaya". 

Let's get writing Eakin Eagles!   Remember, essays are due by Monday, November 12th at 12 noon.

Contest Information

All submitted essays will be reviewed by a panel of Eakin faculty.  The top two essays in each grade will receive recognition and an Eakin prize set.  Plus, the top 2 essays in each grade will be submitted to the Tennessee Secretary of State's 3rd Annual Civics Essay Contest for a chance to win a college savings scholarship of up to $500 and a trip to the state capitol.
