Mr. Gibbons pours himself out in the classroom. He connects with the kids on a level unlike I
have ever seen by sharing his life experiences to help the kids understand what they are going
through is not uncommon. It is evident that, not only the fundamental educational topics were
important to teach, but life skills and human compassion were equally important. He added the
perfect balance of authority and fun into the classroom making him a student favorite!
About Mr. Gibbons:1. How long have you worked for East Rochester Elementary?
Currently in my 5 th year!
2. What is your favorite memory working here?
I can’t say that I have one memory. I really
enjoy seeing formers students around the hallways and hearing about their success in
other grades. Watching them grow and talking to them about their lives is always fun!
3. What part of your job are you most proud of?
My Prize Box is always stacked with
goods…
4. What are your interests/hobbies outside of work?
Sports (all sports), Golf, Skiing, my
dog Layla, spending time at my family’s cottage.
5. What is your favorite quote?
I have two – “He who hesitates is lost” my dad used to say
this to me all the time as a kid playing sports. Another one I like is “Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Ben Franklin. Something I can
relate to personally and is a great mindset for teaching.
