She is always willing to help out students and other staff members too. She helps the students with research, writing papers, college essays, and picking out books. When students need to talk to someone and decompress, Diana is always there for our kids. She is kind and caring and always willing to lend an ear! She is flexible and makes the library a warm and comfortable space for our kids to come and do work, read and relax too!
About Ms. Luce:
1. How long have you worked for the East Rochester School District?
I joined the district in the fall of 2010. School librarianship is a second career for me and I am so happy that life led me to this profession and to ER.
2. What is your favorite memory?
I have so many! Some of my favorites include going to Washington, DC in 2018 with the current senior class, the time when the author Bill Konigsberg visited our library, hosting After School Advantage with Mr. and Mrs. Finn, and when one of the local TV stations came to ER to film a “Friday Night Lights” segment. And, of course, there is every single musical I’ve seen at ER. Each time I think the musical can’t possibly be as good as last year’s show, it then surpasses all my expectations. Our students are so talented.
3. What part of your job are you most proud of?
My favorite part of my job is that I get the chance to work with students across all grades in the MLA and high school. It is a real privilege to watch them grow from sixth-graders into young adults who are about to head out into the world.
4. What are your interests/hobbies outside of work?
I love to read, which I’m sure is a surprise to absolutely no one. I also enjoy cross-stitching. I’m trying to embrace winter activities like snowshoeing so that I will like winter more, but no luck so far.
5. What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “So many books, so little time.” It sums up my life.
