PTA Committee Descriptions

We’re looking forward to another great year at King Springs Elementary!  Our school community thrives because of the tremendous volunteerism from our KSE parents.  There are opportunities to fit every schedule and interest.  If you have a special talent or skill that you would like to contribute, please let us know.


IN-SCHOOL EVENTS.  To help, contact our VP of Family Engagement.
Red Ribbon Week – Drug Awareness (October). Select activities for each day and distribute prizes to children who participate.

Author Visit (March).  Assist KSE’s media specialist with logistics and book distribution.

Cultural Arts Day (May).  Students rotate through a variety of artistic and cultural presentations.  Committee recruits presenters and volunteers.  Planning begins in February.
                           
Field Day (May). Committee works with PE teachers to plan activities, procure supplies & refreshments, and coordinate the schedule and volunteers.  Planning begins in March.


LARGE/FAMILY EVENTS.  To help, contact our VP of Fundraising Events.
Fall Festival (October).  A huge event with many vendors (inflatables, face painting, petting zoo, arts & crafts, food). Plan all aspects of the event, reserve vendors, and recruit volunteers. Volunteers are needed for set up, clean up, and during the event.

Mother/Son Event (November).  A fun bonding experience for KSE’s young men and their favorite adult! Dads, we need you to  execute this night.

Springer Sprint Fun Run (January).  Work with the Executive Board and vendor to pull off the PTA's biggest fundraising event of the year.

Father/Daughter Event (February).  A special time for KSE’s young ladies and their favorite grown-up guy.


FUNDRAISING.  To help, contact our VP of Sponsorships.
School Rewards Programs.  Coordinate KSE’s Box Tops for Education collections and identify & implement other school rewards programs.

Donations/Grants/Sponsors.  Secure community partners, solicit donations for silent auctions and prizes during the school year, and identify and apply for grants. 

Restaurant Nights (Monthly) and Sparkles Nights (Monthly).  Plan and coordinate spirit nights at our sponsor restaurants and Sparkles skating rink.


EDUCATIONAL
Enrichment Clubs. Work with our VP of Enrichment Clubs to manage after-school enrichment offerings.     
                           
Reflections Art Contest (October).  Advertise the contest, collect and judge entries, and communicate winners.  To help, contact our PTA President.

STEM/Career Night (January).  Students visit an array of STEM presentations.  Committee recruits presenters and coordinates the event. To help, contact our VP of Family Engagement.

Environmental Education. Maintain the school gardens and work with teachers to incorporate environment based learning objectives into the curriculum.

Special Needs Committee. Provide community & support to families of special needs students.

STEM Support. Organize STEM events and work closely with STEM teachers as needed.


HOSPITALITY. To help, contact our VP of Family Engagement.
Campus Beautification (3-4 Saturday mornings per year).  Clean-up events at both campuses.

Walk-to-School Wednesday (Monthly).  Hand out treats to children who participate.

Conference Week (October). The PTA serves lunch to teachers & staff.  Committee picks a daily theme, coordinates donations and volunteers, and covers set-up and clean-up shifts.

Bus Driver Appreciation (October).  Plan and execute the PTA’s bus driver appreciation gifts.

Donuts with Grown-Ups (TBD).  Adults join students for breakfast before school.  Committee procures food and drinks and staffs the events.

Staff Appreciation Week (May). Select theme and plan & execute festivities to honor KSE’s teachers and staff each day of the week. Share ideas with room parent coordinators. Planning begins in January.

Pre-Planning Breakfast & Post-Planning Lunch (July & May).  Set up & clean up for these all-staff meals.       

Coffee, Tea & Sympathy (first day of school). Visit with parents at the K-1 campus after drop-off on the first morning of the school year.           


PTA SUPPORT.  To help, contact our VP of Communications or our PTA President.
REACH (Recruiting Activities, Calendars, and “Hello”s). Committee seeks to connect with families and build a stronger KSE community.  Coordinates the volunteer pledge drive, monthly calendars, and kindergarten/new family welcome initiatives.

PTA Bulletin Boards. Update the PTA bulletin boards, located in the lobby at both campuses.   
           
By Laws/PTA Council Rep.  Serve as KSE’s representative to the local PTA Council.         

Dads Club.  Plan ways for KSE’s dads to socialize and get involved in the school community.
 
Membership.  Oversee membership sales.  Committee is active July – Oct.

Room Parent Coordinator. Serve as a liaison between the PTA and Room Parents. 

Spirit Wear and Gear.  Design, order, and distribute spirit wear and gear.

Volunteer Coordinator.  Assist event chairs in recruiting volunteers for their events.      
                         
Website/Communications.  Maintain the PTA website and send weekly e-blast newsletters.   

Yearbook.  Work with the 5th grade Yearbook Club to create, sell, and distribute KSE’s yearbook.
