December 'Round the World Musical
Dec 10, 2019 from 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM
December 'Round The World
A letter from Mr. Petrelli, re:  December 'Round the World

It's hard to believe that there is less than one month before the Lockeland Holiday Performance!

The title of this show is "December 'Round the World." In keeping with our Dare to be Different theme this year, this show highlights and celebrates the various traditions that are embraced and celebrated by cultures all around the world during the month of December.
This show features every Lockeland student in grades 2, 3 and 4.(K and 1st will perform their own musical in the spring)

LOGISITICS:
Date: Tuesday December 10, 2019
Location: East High School (110 Gallatin Avenue, Nashville, TN 37206)
Time: 6:00 pm
Show Length: Approximately 45-50 minutes.
Parking: There are limited spaces in front of the high school's main entrance, as well as a side and back parking lot (behind the Christmas Tree lot). Please see the aerial-view parking map below so that can help you prepare and plan. As always, carpooling is very much encouraged!

SONGS:
Each grade will perform 3 songs in total.
1. "December 'Round the World" (opening song, performed by all 3 grades)
2. "December in America" (closing song  - with a bit of Lockeland flair 😉 - also performed by all 3 grades.)
3. In addition to these two ensemble pieces, each grade level has been assigned a song that celebrates a particular culture and the tradition they celebrate.

ATTENDANCE:
Please plan to have your child attend this performance on December 10th. Certainly, life happens, and December is quite the busy time of year. So if you know in advance that your child will be unable to make the performance for any reason, PLEASE contact me or your child's teacher so that we can plan ahead. I can be reached at (dmpetrelli@mnps.org).

SONGS TO PRACTICE:
Students are doing an AMAZING job of learning all of their parts. But with only 55 minutes of music class every 3 days, ANY time they can listen, practice and sing their parts outside of music class is a huge, huge help.  Below you will find links to the ensemble piece, "December Around the World."

ATTIRE:
Two options:
1. Students are encouraged to dress in a way that connects to their assigned culture. You should not feel obligated to find something, nor should you feel like it must be a FULL costume/wardrobe. Little accents can go a long way on stage.
2. Students may also stick to performance-appropriate attire. This can include a button down shirt, solid color pants, dress/skirt, etc. Think SSA, but slightly dressier 🙂. No jeans or t-shirts please.

THANK YOU!:
I know how much information this is. Thank you so much for reading this far and for helping your child get prepared for this awesome show. They are total rock stars and I can't wait for you to see them do their thing on December 10. Do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.

Happy (almost) December!!
