What is Joust Read?
Joust Read is Nottingham Country Elementary (NCE)’s school-wide reading incentive program. Participating NCE Knights earn praise and rewards as they reach specific literacy milestones, with the ultimate reward being the Grand Mystery Prize.
2023-2024 Program Details
Kindergarten, First and Second Grades - Students in Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades earn Joust Tags and Joust Pages. Students may read 3 genre specific books, complete one project and submit the paper form to earn a Joust Tag. Special tags may also be earned based on special promotions throughout the year. Additionally, students may read any book of their choice and complete the tracker form to earn Joust Pages. Please note that a book can only be counted toward a tag or pages, not both. Students who complete the program requirements stated below by April 12, 2023 earn the Grand Mystery Prize.
Kindergarten 6 projects and 250 pages
First 8 projects and 500 pages
Second 10 projects and 750 pages
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades - Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades earn Joust Pages and complete 1 approved project. Bonus pages may also be earned based on special promotions throughout the year. To earn pages, students may read any book of their choice (school assigned books do not count) and complete a Google form https://forms.gle/TozYxujVAtm87jfc6 . Grade 3 students who earn 3,000 Joust Read Pages, Grade 4 students who earn 4,000 Joust Pages, and Grade 5 students who earn 5,000 Joust Pages by April 12, 2023 earn the Grand Mystery Prize.
Program Launch
This year’s program goes live on Monday, September 18th. Access the required forms online at www.ncepta.org (Documents > Joust Read). Hard copy forms are also available directly from the library.

- Poster - Top 5 Favorite Books Read, Must Read Authors, Wanted Posters for Book Series, etc.
