STEM Lab equips students for success in a diverse, interdependent and changing world through a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education centered on innovative, hands-on learning.
STEM Lab students are immersed in analysis, discovery, problem solving and creativity through problem-based learning. With problem-based learning, STEM students have the opportunity to be risk takers, critical thinkers and innovators by solving real-world challenges in the classroom. By working through a combination of learning strategies, students discover the nature of a problem, understand the variables involved and gain new perspectives.
At NCE STEM Lab is staffed with parent volunteers and is supported by the PTA. Students in grades K-2 visit the STEM lab once a week, rotating through different stations and challenges each week. Parent volunteers are present to guide, challenge, encourage and redirect students through their explorations.
