Read with Rocky Summer 2019 Reading Program Information
Calling All Red Wolf Readers!
The PTO is Excited to Announce the“Read with Rocky”
Summer 2019 Reading Program has Begun!
To encourage our students to hit the books during summer break, the PTO is hosting the Read with Rocky Summer Reading Program from June 7 to August 24, and will be opening the school's Media Center for two Media Center Days this summer.The two Summer Media Center Days* will be on July 10th and August 7th from 10:00-11:30 a.m., where all rising K-5th graders, who are registered at Rea View, will be able to check out books. The PTO will also have crafts and guest readers at the Summer Media Center Days. In addition, participants who bring in their Read with Rocky Reading Log to the Summer Media Center Days can choose from a host of small incentives for recording minutes read. To conclude the program, at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year, the PTO will also hold a raffle for students who turn in completed Read with Rocky Reading Logs to their new teachers. Through the raffle, students will have a chance to win bigger prizes, such as Amazon gift cards, a Sports Connection gift card, and movie passes!
How the Read with Rocky Summer Program Works:
- Use the attached Read with Rocky Reading Log to record the minutes your child reads this summer. For those rising Kindergarteners who are just learning to read, or those who are still learning to read independently, being read to by an adult or sibling also counts! Start logging minutes read on June 7th, and the last day to record minutes read is on August 25th.
- Bring the reading log to the Summer Media Center Days on July 10 and August 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for your child to win exciting incentives, such as the pizza and ice cream certificates.
- If you can’t attend the Media Center Days, you can send your child's log in with a friend to pick up your incentive or you can turn it in at the beginning of the school year to receive any certificates you were unable to pick up during the Media Center Days.
- At the beginning of the 2019-20 school year, Rea View students who turn in a completed reading log(s) to their new teacher will be entered into the Read with Rocky Raffle for a chance to win a larger prize, such as an Amazon gift card, a Sports Connection gift card, or a movie pass. Each completed reading log your child turns in will count as one "raffle ticket," so your child can have multiple chances to enter the raffle if they complete more than one Read with Rocky Reading Log.
- Please be sure to return all books checked out during the Summer Media Center Days during the first week of school, August 26-30, 2019.
- Additional copies of the reading log will be available for download all summer from the Documents tab of the PTO website and from the link below.
