Fall Picture Day

Schedule the hair cut and pick out those spiffy clothes so your student is ready for picture day THIS THURSDAY, Oct. 17.

United Way Coin Drive

Every year, the Shawnee Mission School District participates in the United Way campaign. This year it's Oct. 14-24. Students, look under your bed, under the couch and anywhere spare change may be hiding! Bring in coins to fill our school coin jar. Our change can make a change for someone in need.

It's Book Fair Time

Parents and kids, get ready to head to the library to find new books for the fall. The Scholastic Book Fair is back Monday, Oct. 21 to Friday, Oct. 25. Even though the kids are out of school on Friday, the Book Fair will be open until noon for parents attending conferences. It would be a great time to grab a few books for the upcoming holidays!

If you are able to volunteer to help work the book fair, visit this sign-up genius and pick a time and day that works for you.

Trunk 'r Treat

Sunflower's Trunk or Treat will be Friday, Oct. 25 from 6-7:30pm. Please sign up if you would like to have a trunk on display, donate candy or volunteer at the event. There will be prizes for the best decorated cars, so get creative! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact - sara.odell@gmail.com

Halloween Parade and Parties

It's almost time for the Sunflower Halloween Parade and Fall/Halloween Celebrations on Thursday, Oct. 31.

  • Students should already be in costume and should not be changing/working on their costumes in your classrooms, or the restrooms.
  • Costumes for school should not include masks, face paint, weapons, blood, violence or gore.

The parade will start by 8:20am and conclude by 8:35am. Parents may line up along the walls in the cafeteria and gym areas to view the parade. Classroom celebrations will start around 8:35am and conclude by 9:30am. If you are watching the parade only, you will need to sign in on one of the sign in sheets at the table in the front lobby. If you are a room parent helping in the classroom, you must check in through the office and receive a volunteer badge.
