All students in grades K – 6 are encouraged to participate in Windermere’s Winter Reading Challenge! 
The challenge will run from Wednesday February 1st to February 28. 

Students who complete 3 hours of recreational reading during the month of February will receive a bookmark, and those students who complete all 6 hours will also earn one $5 certificate toward any book at the Spring Book Fair, which will be held from March 20th through March 24th

The top three K-6 classrooms with the highest participation percentage will each receive a $50.00 certificate to the Spring Book Fair to enhance their classroom libraries. 

Reading logs will be distributed to classrooms on January 30th.  It can also be downloaded from here.

So, get ready to read!

Windermere School Talent Show

 February 24th at 5:30

Ellington High School Auditorium.

 Get your ticket now!! Ticket cost is $5.00.

Rehearsals will be held February 23rd 4 pm – 8 pm in the Ellington High School Auditorium.

  • Performers are required to attend rehearsal for the entire time from 4 pm – 8 pm.
  • Any performer who does not attend rehearsal will not perform in the show. If you are in a group act, all performers must attend, only attending performers will be in the show.
  • Rehearsals are limited to performers and an accompanying adult.

The following guidelines must be adhered:

  • Students may only perform in one act.
  • All solo acts are limited to 1 ½ minutes.
  • All group acts of 2 or more are limited to 2 minutes.
  • All acts must be age appropriate and "G" rated.
  • No act will exceed the allotted time.

 

We are going to do our best to make sure that every student gets the opportunity to perform, however; if an overwhelming number of entries are received, some acts may need to be modified. Group acts are encouraged.

Our WPTO Scholastic Spring Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: March 20th – 24th

Shopping hours:
Monday and Tuesday - 9am-3:30pm
Wednesday and Thursday - 9am-1pm
Wednesday and Thursday - 1pm-7pm (parent/teacher conferences)
Friday - 9am-10:30am                                  

If your child wishes to participate, please send them with money on the day their class will visit the book fair (see below).  If your child is absent on that day or forgets to bring their money, they are welcome to shop on another day as long as it is permissible and arranged with their teacher.  Cash, credit cards and checks made payable to WPTOwill be accepted.

If you would like to donate to the Scholastic “All for Books” program please include any spare change in the baggie provided and send it back to school with your child.  The All for Books money we collect will be used to purchase books for our school.

Windermere PTO has teamed up with Square 1 Art to create an unique opportunity for children in grades K-6 to celebrate their artistic accomplishment while at the same time raising funds for the school.

Your child(ren)  has / have  been working with his / her art teacher and creating artwork for you, that you will see soon on their personalized catalog coming home!

Within the next few weeks you will be receiving a custom catalog featuring your child(ren)’s artwork along with an order form.  By purchasing these keepsake items – you will encourage their artistic endeavor  and in turn support the school.
