Computer update

Dear Park Trails Families,

This is MS. Manville with important information. I apologize for the length of this message.  The information is also emailed to you with the email address you provided during registration.

You may have heard the State of Florida has canceled school until at least April 15, 2020 and students will not participate in State assessments.

Thank you for your patience as we try to navigate through these challenging times. Information is changing by the minute.  I will continue to provide you with updated information as it becomes available, it has been confirmed and I have all the details.  Again, I truly appreciate your patience.

Park Trails will be distributing approximately 500 devices on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm on a first come first serve basis.  We have 200 devices to distribute to grades K-2 which includes 30 IPads that will be reserved for Kindergarten and 300 laptops for grades 3-5. Only the parent/guardian listed during registration will be permitted to pick up a device. This means aunts/uncles/grandparents/neighbors will NOT be able to pick up a device for your child. Parent MUST have a picture ID. Students do not have to be present, but parents need to have their child’s ID number and password.  With the help of school staff, parents must sign in and create a profile while at Park Trails. As you know safety is a priority, therefore we are putting procedures in place for social distancing during the distribution of laptops.

We are working to make this an organized, safe, and expedient process.  However, we do expect long wait times and appreciateyour cooperation and flexibility. We will send more information on Thursday that will describe the distribution procedures.

In an effort to expedite the distribution process, please complete 2 surveys.  One is a District Survey and the second is a Park Trails survey (See below for links). If you do not complete the District and/or school survey by Thursday at 2:00 pm, you will need to fill out the information on Friday which will slow down the process. We appreciate your help to make this process efficient.

Our first step will be distribution of laptops.  We will be working on the next steps which is the implementation of online learning.  While teachers are planning and setting up online instruction, please see below for activities your children can do instantly.

Students can complete I Ready lessons (K-5 lessons), and other lessons uploaded by their teacher into their Clever account. In addition, students have many activities and lessons they can complete through Clever’s homepage while teachers are transitioning to the online platform.

I will be in touch and will continue sharing information via ParentLink and ParentLink emails. We have been through a lot and we will get through this if we help and support each other.

Thank you and be safe,

Ms. Manville
