READ WITH ROCKY SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Rea View PTO's Read with Rocky Summer Reading Program encourages Rea View students to read books during summer break to help prevent summer learning loss. The Read with Rocky program runs from the first day to last day of summer break, and is for all rising Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students who will attend Rea View in August. To encourage our students to hit the books during summer break, we will have some fun incentives, including tasty treats like pizza certificates and other coupons from local businesses.
How the Read with Rocky Summer Program Works:
- Print the attached reading log and start logging your child's reading minutes during the summer break. Additional copies of the reading log are also available for download below or from the Rea View PTO website under the Documents tab, so you can print as many logs as your child(ren) need all summer long.
- Turn in the completed reading log(s) during the Summer Media Center Days* and/or at the beginning of the school year to collect prizes!
That's it! A very easy and simple summer reading program.
The PTO also offers two to three Summer Media Center Days* (in June, July, or August) where students can go to Rea View's library to check out books to read over the summer. During the Summer Media Center days students can bring in their Read with Rocky reading logs to collect some of their prizes, or they can turn in the logs once at the beginning of the school year.
(Students do not have to participate in the Read with Rocky Summer Reading Program in order to be able to check out books at the Summer Media Center Days, but the do have to be enrolled as a student at Rea View.)
*During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the PTO will not be able to host any Summer Media Center Day events due to social distancing guidelines and crowd size restrictions. Hopefully, we will be able to bring back the Summer Media Center Days for the Summer of 2021.
