Early prevention strategies and awareness campaigns have proven effective in deterring children and teens from experimenting with drugs and alcohol. In fact, children (especially tweens and teens) whose parents regularly communicate with them about drugs are 42 percent less likely to use drugs.
That’s why Red Ribbon Week at Woodlands is so important.
Woodlands will join the 2019 Red Ribbon Drug Awareness Campaign Oct. 21-26. This year’s theme - “Send a Message; Stay Drug Free” – strives to unify all participants with the common denominator of technology.
The week’s activities include daily dress themes and a classroom door decorating contest. One classroom from each grade level will win a party and bragging rights.
We encourage all students to participate in this meaningful campaign as we pledge to be Drug Free!
The Daily Dress Themes:
Monday 10/21 - "Turn your back on Drugs” and wear your clothes backward as a symbol of your choice to be drug-free.
Tuesday, 10/22 - “Doing Drugs Is Crazy”- Wear Crazy socks, crazy hair, anything crazy.
Wednesday, 10/23 - “Unite Against Drugs ” - Wear orange to show you stand against drugs.
Thursday, 10/24 - “Follow your dreams…Don’t do Drugs" - Wear your PJs to school. PLEASE follow Seminole County DRESS CODE: No slippers.
Friday, 10/25 - “We are Superheros” - Wear your favorite superhero shirt or your Woodlands shirt to show that Woodlands’ students are superheroes and won’t do drugs!
