Las Palmas will start off the month with "Read Across America Day" on Thursday, March 2 which is Dr. Seuss' B-day.  We will celebrate reading on this day!  As part of our Language Immersion Program, we focus on reading as a way to develop empathy and celebrate diversity.  Books can be windows into different ways of seeing the world and developing our goal of socio-cultural competency.  To celebrate reading, students may wear their pajamas to school on Thursday, March 2.

What is Read Across America?

• Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.
